Fastest Growing Boathouse

Atlanta Rowing Club, Roswell, Georgia

Atlanta Rowing Club began with a boathouse in Stone Mountain in 1974, but within ten years the group moved to Roswell Park. As its membership continued to rise, a new boathouse was constructed in 1987 that allowed more space for shells and assisted the rise in members up to its current, impressive count of 250. Rowers with this organization can range anywhere from the recreational to the Olympian, but all are provided the same amenities that the club has to offer. The organization is volunteer-based and boasts an environment facilitated by respect and sportsmanship toward all.

Currently, the boathouse is comprised of four different locations for storing shells. There is the Lower Boathouse that is rented from the city of Roswell, the 'Cage' built by the Atlanta Rowing club, the Upper Boathouse also built by the Atlanta Rowing Club, and finally a trailer for those shells that cannot fit anywhere else. Even with such storage, the boathouse is beginning to run out of space and is faced with the tough decision of how to proceed as membership continues to rise and space continues to shrink.
