Located on the west side of the lower Santa Cruz Harbor, the Santa Cruz Rowing Club has one of the best open water rowing venues in the state of California. Formed by a small group of rowing enthusiasts in 1975, the club worked diligently with the Santa Cruz Harbor to provide proper facilities for rowing. Now the club's goal is to provide structured instruction so that the club can introduce the fun of rowing to interested members of the community. The club owns 15 open-water rowing shells for use by members. SCRC members participate in many of the open water races in Northern California and beyond. Santa Cruz Rowing Club also has regular rowing tours for those who would like to explore diverse waterways from a rowing shell. The latest rowing tour concluded in Oregon on the Willamette River where participants rowed over 100 miles during the week.
