Most Competitive Boathouse
Oregon Association of Rowers, Eugene, Oregon
On the serene surface of Dexter Lake, the Oregon Association of Rowers has rowed since 1986. Initially created to promote the knowledge of and interest in the sport of rowing, the organization soon grew to a formidable size, and in 1994 took on a Juniors team in conjunction with its Masters team already in place. The club is best known for its Covered Bridge Regatta held annually in April, bringing together teams from Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. For the Juniors team especially, the Oregon Association of Rowers has incredible appeal due to its history of sending rowers far and wide around the country to compete successfully at the collegiate level.
The boathouse was built in 1994 for use by the Masters program and South Eugene High School Crew. Located next to University of Oregon boathouse, this 2,800 square foot facility is used by both the Juniors and Masters teams and offers ample storage space for private boats. For those looking to either begin or supplement a rowing career, this is certainly the place to be.
