Lincoln Park Boat Club, Chicago, Illinois

Lincoln Park Boat Club has been rowing on the Chicago River since 1910. However, rowing and paddling have been a part of Chicago's sports fabric for over 150 years and prior to World War II was a major source of entertainment. The boathouse is located on the Lincoln Park Lagoon which offers calm, protected waters for rowers, scullers and paddlers, but also has access to Lake Michigan for sea kayaking.
Lincoln Park's modern day success stems in large part to the variety of program offerings including recreational sweep and sculling teams, competitive men's and women's teams, host to two colleges, Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, two junior programs, Loyola Academy and St. Ignatius Prep School, an adaptive learn-to-row program as well as outrigger canoe teams and a competitive Dragon Boat Team. The club also hosts the Chicago Sprints Rowing Regatta, a two-day regatta that is one of the largest summer rowing events in the Midwest.
